A tax credit for homeowners was amended and extended through December 31, 2011, entitled the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010. The cap is now $300 for purchases of heating, cooling and water-heating equipment.
Oil and gas furnace and boiler incentives up to $150, plus an additional $50 for efficient furnace fans; water heater and wood heating system incentives are up to $300.
Taxpayers who purchase qualified residential energy-efficient property are eligible for a tax credit worth 30% of the system cost, including labor costs. The credit may also be applied to labor costs for assembly and original installation of eligible property.
TAX CREDITS available for these Units:
- Electric heat pump and water heaters
- Central air conditioners
- Natural gas, propane or oil water heaters and boilers
- Advanced main air circulating fans
- Biomass stoves that use plant-derived fuel
